Today our T4 CL topic came to an end when we taught each other our lesson.  Some lessons were really well organised and some made up what they were going to do on the spot!  Everyone got to be a teacher and learn something from someone else in our class.  There were lots of SMARTs being taught from nature smart -fishing to body smart - cooking and rugby passes to visual smart - art. Check out some photos of us as teachers:

Being visual SMART

Also today, we practiced spelling in a visual way.  We tried to make up a mnemonic to learn how to spell a word.  A mnemonic is a way to help you visualise a word.  You have to think of a word for each letter of the word you are trying to spell.  Most people thought this was a crazy way to learn to spell but it did help some.  Our results were:
  • 14 people were able to spell their word using this technique
  • 8 people were not able to spell their word

Check out some examples that people did:

Being body SMART

Today we tested out the body smart intelligence.  We all picked 2 words we did not know how to spell and went outside with a tennis ball and some chalk.  Body smart people learn best by doing things and moving around as they learn.  Some of us mixed up the letters to a word and wrote it on the concrete in chalk.  Then we bounced or jumped on each letter to practice spelling it.  Others threw a ball against the wall and yelled out each letter as they caught the ball.  Everyone agreed that it was a fun way to practice spelling.  When we came back inside, we had a go at spelling the 2 words we had practised.  We recorded the results of our body smart learners first:
  • Harriet - 2/2
  • Abbie - 2/2
  • Ethan - 0/2
  • Sam - 2/2
  • Edmon - 1/2
  • Hayden - 2/2

Altogether our class results were:
15 people could spell both words correctly
4 people could spell one of the words correctly
2 people got both words wrong

Hmmmm.... interesting facts!
