Today we tried out a new tool on the computer. It was called Pixton. We had to make a comic on what we are learning in Basic Facts. Here's mine. The web adress for this tool is, http://www.pixton.com
On Friday 24th May, 22 students from Arrowsmith at Tinwald School travelled to the Ashburton Showgrounds. was lucky enough to be one of them. I am not completely sure of where I came but I think iit was about mid-field. Aleesha came third in the Yr 5 girls race, Ben came third in the Yr 5 boys race and Ryan came second in the Yr 6 boys race. Congratulations to evrybody who went to Counties. You all did fantastic!
We created our own characters on Build Your Wildself. We are going to use these characters in our character descriptions this term for writing.Below is my character: Monophin.
Write a letter from Auggie to his parents convincing them to take him out of Beecher Prep School.
Dear Mum and Dad,
I know how much you have tried to get me into Beecher Prep, but I don't really like it there because Julian is really mean to me and Jack isn't really my friend. The other day I overheard Jack,Julian and someone else talking about how they didn't like me. Julian was giving Jack ideas about how he could get rid of me.One of the ideas was to ditch me. They were also talking about how they would kill themselves if they had a face like me because they wouldn't be able bare looking in the mirror at their face. I don't think school is right for me. Please get me out of this school!:( I don't care if I get home-schooled again as long as I am out of this place, it feels like a prison.
What do you think about Jack Will now? Was his friendship real?
I think that Jack Will is a faker. He was just trying to get into Mr Tushmans good books, by faking his friendship with Auggie and looking out for him. He's not as bad Julian because at least Julian was honest that he didn't like Auggie from the start. By Jack faking the friendship he has made himself worst than Julian by not being honest.
The best part was crossing the finish line in third place.
It was intersting when I ran through the creek because it wasn't as deep as it looked or as deep as I had imagined.
I thought that the band system worked really well because when you were cheering, you could see who was finishing and who wasn't.
On the first Friday of the school holidays Dad, Amy and I went up to the top of the Rakaia Gorge.First Dad took us to where they launch the Discovery Jet. Then we went back down the road.Dad took us up to Glenfalloch Station. On the way we passed Manuka Point and Double Hill.Once we got to the gateway for Glenfalloch we also saw a sign for Manuka Point Station. We followed the track and ended up at the edge of the Rakaia River.Manuka Point has limited access to the outside world. The only way that they can get something like the groceries is to go across the Rakaia River, unless they have a helicopter or plane.
